This was a response letter sent to Mr. Grimaldi after his office sent six of us a very uninformed and out of date form letter. Mr. Grimaldi I am very disappointed. If you truly read my letter to you, I would not have received this form letter from your department. I spoke of our people and their commitment to G.M. St. Catharines. I did not speak of using trades as supplemental help. I spoke to you strongly of our attitudes and role in making G.M. St Catharines world class and asked for your help. Mr. Cameron used the completion of the Gen III as the reason for our layoff. I was laid off after the Gen III years ago. We are now working on a Gen IV. We have installed a High Feature V6 line and our Components plant is working flat out preparing for new products. He has no idea what he is talking about and he discredits your knowledge of our facility. He also mentioned that the downward adjustment in the number of employees was a last measure. There were many manpower saving suggestions we offered management that were turned down. We have been deemed expendable while other cost saving measures are continuously being ignored. Your managers in St. Catharines are constantly asking people to work seven days each week, extended shifts and forcing people in while keeping us at home. That doesn’t sound like a shortage of work. I will not write anything further on this matter to you because I believe you are not taking the time to read it. If you are reading my communication to you and your response is an inappropriate form letter from someone else, then my valuable time is being wasted. It only proves what I have said about G.M’s continuous disrespect of its work force throughout the different levels of management. Good Day Sir! Papa Dez Millwright G.M. St. Catharines | ||||||
