Sisters and Brothers Thank you for your support. We are your laid off friends and appreciate your help to get us back to work and to stay there. Anything you are willing to do to help bring us back to work is welcome. We are grateful to all the members who wear the “buttons” and for turning down all offers of extension of shift overtime made by the company. Many of you have experienced layoffs and can remember the uncomfortable feelings it gave you and your family. There is more to working than just the money. We trust that you care and will help out in any way you can. Today we are out but tomorrow it could be you. Let’s pull together and support each other to help keep everyone working in an environment free of the constant threat of layoffs. Over the years we have proven ourselves to be G.M’s most valuable commodity. It is time G.M. treated everyone with the respect we have earned and deserve. If you are tired of the unnecessary G.M. layoff roller coaster, then please wear your “button” with pride and determination and adhere to its meaning. This is a positive step on our road to a stress free, secure, future for each of us and our families. We have given G.M. everything that has been asked of us to help manufacture a superior product in a timely manner. It is time for G.M. to honour it's partnership with us. Management has a responsibility not only to G.M. but also its workforce, the people who have helped make St. Catharines successful and great. Please visit a web site that has been set up by the Skilled Trades Association. It will outline what some of your laid off friends are doing to help effect change. http://www.skilledtradesassociation.com/ Once again, thank each and every one of you who are showing G.M. that, “enough is enough”, by supporting your friends, your union and yourself, both in and out of work. In Solidarity, G.M. Laid off Members C.A.W. Local 199 | ||||||
